HOMAN SQUARE




The Walkability Assesment Initiative
Kedzie-Homan (WAIK-H) program

 



In Spring an Summer 2022, I was a graduate advisor for SAIC at Homan Square in Chicago. We worked with the Chicago Department of Transportation to focus on the intersection between Homan and Harrison to create a safe and walkable path for the community in North Lawndale. Using principles of tactical urbanism, neighborhood students that are part of the Lawndale Civic Design program, helped our team design the final concept, worked with the community on feedback, and developed interventions for the bump-outs, curb cuts, sidewalk, and the street itself.

We are installing the final design in Septemebr 2022, along with students and volunteers from the community.
